Gamcha (Bengali words, “ga” — body, and “mochha” — wipe) are traditional bath towels made and used primarily in Bangladesh. Crafted from natural cotton fibers on a handloom machine, they are a thin & coarse fabric designed for the country’s tropical climate.
Wanting to create reusable tote bags for the brand, no other fabric seemed more suitable. We repurposed the Gamchas’ using sturdy canvas cotton lining for a durable structural foundation. A local fashion student sketched the bag outlines, and for the logo, we brushed off my father's old printing machine.
The Gamcha totes perfectly embody our brand, blending our heritage and the brand's future. Gamcha is both biodegradable and sustainable.
