Community Impact: Partnership with Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank

At Better Day, our mission is to foster a community that not only celebrates sustainability in fashion but also shares a commitment to the well-being of our planet and its inhabitants.

This is why we are so excited to announce our partnership with Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank.

Since 1983, Parker Street (located at 2415 Maynard Street, Halifax) has been an essential part of the HRM community, providing food, furniture, clothing and emergency assistance to families in need. The organization supports around 8,000 community members annually, providing essential items such as food, furniture, clothing, and emergency assistance. As a registered charitable organization, they offer value-driven initiatives, including the Christmas Hamper, Back-to-School, and Technology Assistance programs, among others. A vast majority of their members are families with young children, as well as newcomers to Canada, refugees, and members of the BIPOC community.

What's even more impressive is their commitment to sustainability. Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank is dedicated to finding innovative solutions that create a positive impact on employees, clients, and the community. They aim to become the first green food bank in Atlantic Canada and are participating in the Green and Inclusive Building Program, which focuses on adopting renewable energy sources to reduce our carbon footprint and create a sustainable environment.

How does this partnership benefit our customers?

Better Day strives to offer customers a purpose-driven choice and envisions a future where sustainability and empowerment are the foundation of a truly ethical fashion world. Since our launch in June 2021, we've been dedicated to donating 10% of our profits to local charities.

Our partnership with Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank is a step further in realizing this vision. By purchasing from us, customers will be able to see exactly how their contributions are being used to benefit the community.

What to expect moving forward?

What better time to celebrate this wonderful partnership than with the Holiday season right around the corner?

Additionally, 25% of sale proceeds will be donated to Parker Street's Christmas Hamper Program, which provides a food-filled, decorated hamper for a delicious and healthy Christmas turkey dinner. Moreover, each family with children will receive toys to place under the tree. Donation amounts will be announced on our social media page on Tuesday, November 28.
